Brazil Nuts are native to the Guianas, Venezuela, Brazil, eastern Colombia, eastern Peru, and eastern Bolivia.
The Brazil nut tree, scientifically known as Bertholletia excelsa, is a member of the Lecythidaceae family and is also commonly referred to as the tree's commercially harvested edible seeds.
Found in the Amazon rainforest, the Brazil nut tree holds the title of one of the largest and longest-living trees there. Its fruit and nut are both quite substantial, weighing up to 2 kg (4.4 lb) altogether.
These nuts are highly regarded for their diverse micronutrient content, particularly their rich source of selenium.
