Not Just Korean
Growing up in Colorado, I was exposed to the classic "American" style of food – hearty meat and potato dishes that were comforting and filling. My mother grew up living near the California border and she also introduced me to Mexican influence in our meals – think tacos, burritos, and fresh guacamole.
My taste buds continued to expand when I joined the military and traveled around the world. Being stationed in different countries allowed me to taste authentic dishes from places like England, the Philippines, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. These experiences broadened my understanding of food and how it can bring people together across cultures.
In this section, I want to share some recipes that go beyond traditional Korean cuisine. These are dishes that have been influenced by my upbringing, travels, and personal experiences.
