Commercial blueberries are native to North America, other types are found in North America, Europe, and Asia.
Blueberries are dark blue to purple-black in color when ripe. They are used in baking, for jams and jellies, eaten raw, in salads, and more.
When purchasing blueberries look for fresh blueberries that are firm, dry, plump, smooth-skinned and relatively free from leaves and stems.
Blueberries go bad fairly quickly, so refrigerate after purchase and use as soon as possible.
