Candied Chestnuts
Bamcho is a simple and delicious way to enjoy chestnuts
Ingredients
8 ounces peeled chestnuts
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons mulyeot
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Optional Garnishes
pine nuts
crushed walnuts
Directions
Blanch:
Bring about 4 cups of water to a boil, add 1 teaspoon salt, and add the chestnuts. Boil for about two minutes.
Remove from heat and rinse immediately in cold water.
Cook:
Mix water, sugar, cinnamon, and syrup in a pot and bring to a simmer over medium low heat.
Add chestnuts and simmer until liquid thickens and chestnuts are coated in the syrup.
Remove from pot, drain excess liquid, and allow to dry for about 2 hours.
