Home Grown

Some ingredients we grow at home.

Many ingredients are fairly easy to grow at home if you have the time to tend a home garden. We grow chives, perilla, leaf lettuce, chili peppers, mug wort, Korean squash, eggplant, and Korean cucumbers on a regular basis.
Cucumber and squash can be fussy, but if you keep them trimmed to one or two stringers per plant it's not too bad.
Use some good topsoil or garden soil to start, mix with some compost, and you are ready to start. We usually add things like crushed egg shell and used coffee grounds, some rice rinse water, and add small amounts of compost through out the growing season.
Garlic chives and perilla are prolific (you often have watch the borders of the growing area to keep them contained) and will produce continuously through the season.
