깻잎 Kkaennip, Perilla, Wild Sesame
In Korean, the Perilla Seed plant (known as kkaennip or ggaenip), a plant belonging to the mint family, is known as Korean Perilla leaves (kkaennip or ggaenip). Despite the fact that they are sometimes referred to as sesame leaves because of their direct Korean translation, they are not related to actual sesame plants. They have a strong aroma and are commonly used in Korean cuisine for various purposes.
Compared to Japanese shiso leaves, Korean perilla leaves are larger, flatter, and have a less serrated edge.
