밥 cooked rice
Korean meals are based on rice. In Korean, the expression eating rice means having a meal. Bap refers to cooked rice; uncooked rice is referred to as ssal. A variety of cooked rice is consumed by Koreans, including rice mixed with barley, beans, red beans, millet, and others.
On Korean menus, any dish name ending in "bap" is some type of rice dish; bokkeum bap would be fried rice, guk-bap would soup rice, omu-bap would be omelet rice.
